Food for thought?

I haven't posted for a while, I got completely wrapped up in buying a new business over the last few months.

Yes, I know, I do promote internet marketing as a great way to make money - but I just felt that it was a bit too "me, me, me". Times are hard and more people are getting laid off  (certainly here in the UK) so I wanted to give a little back. I bought into a failing business, one that is nothing to do with internet marketing in an way shape or form.

Am I stupid for buying a failing business? Certainly not. Many of you will have heard the phrase "Due diligence", trust me, this was done (more on that another time).

Obviously I want the business to be very profitable, isn't that just "me, me, me"? No. Since leaving the Army I have been self employed for years with only myself on the payroll. Now I have to be concerned for staff. They have to be paid before I am paid. It's a very different setup to working for yourself by yourself.

I just wanted to post on here again to show that I am still around and still making money. What I wanted to point out to anyone that is interested is this: Many Internet Marketers will try to sell you the dream whereby you can start Internet Marketing in your spare time and then eventually quit your job... But that doesn't have to be how you do it or why you do it.

I was a very well paid consultant before, but I like programming and the whole internet thing so I started IM just to see if it would give me some extra pocket money. Right now I find that as a new business start up I won't be getting a salary for 3 months (according to the business plan anyway, in reality it could be 5 months) :S
But the affiliation money coming in is a great help. Did I plan it that way? I wish I could say I did, but that's not the case. So the moral of my story then would be along the lines of 'saving for a rainy day'.

If you are even remotely considering Internet Marketing then I would highly recommend it.  If you can make good money for little effort why wouldn't you?

Act now, don't dither!

Okay, so the title seems a bit dramatic?  But procrastination is (likely to get a fairly high score on Scrabble?) probably the worst thing you can do when it comes to getting ahead.  If you are always waiting for the perfect opportunity you will miss out.  Start now and you gain experience, start now and you gain an advantage over the people that don't start now - you become established, you could even become wealthy - in  fact there is a good chance of that as a lot of people will be dithering over whether or not to 'go for it' and will probably never get around to doing anything at all...

IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE WHAT YOU ALWAYS HAD

Think about that.  You go to work, you come home, you eat, sleep, go to work, come home...  There's nothing wrong with that but if you want to make a real change - perhaps not have to go to work, secure in the knowledge you are still earning (passive) income - then you'll need to actually make a change.

Set a date in your calendar (in my case that would be on my mobile phone, as I like having the alarm notifications and double reminders).  Arrange to come back and read this exact same post again in ...you decide... 3 days? 5 days? 7 days?
Whatever time you decide come back and read this post again and answer yourself honestly "Have you done anything to start to make the change?"

If you have started to make changes then congratualtions!  You are one of the few that stands a great chance of changing your life to the way you want it to be.

If you haven't then you can do one of two things.

1. Set up a date in your calendar again, come back again on that date and ask yourself again "Have you done anything to start to make the change?"

or

2. Forget all about making changes, it's unlikely to happen, as only you can make the changes.

"IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE WHAT YOU ALWAYS HAD"

You set the date that you should decide to act by.  If you know you will be away for a week then give yourself time to actually do something - just don't keep putting it off.
